Casa Romantica

Casa Romantica Cultural Center and Gardens is a center for the arts and historic landmark, originally serving as the residence of the founder of San Clemente, Ole Hanson. Toal Engineering prepared civil engineering plans for renovation of the Center’s parking facilities, which was completed in 2021. In early 2024, a major slope failure occurred, temporarily closing the railway line along the coast, damaging some of the rear yard improvements, and threatening the structure itself. Toal Engineering prepared a slope restoration plan, which includes a buttress key and grade beams w/ tiebacks to stabilize and rebuild the slope, thereby protecting the historic landmark.
